The Morning Stretch #3

Today, March 8, is my brother Mark’s birthday. He has had a bad stretch—our father died last week and Mark missed the funeral because he was in the hospital with a variety of debilitating ailments. He’s home now, but still in a lot of pain as the result of kidney stones and a headache for which the doctors have been unable to pinpoint a cause. This morning’s stretch is a challenge to write an eight word sentence that is about, or describes, pain.

Invisible blades sliced silence—pain exposed without relief.

  1. Throbbing, jack-hammering pain sears into my aching head.
